Oval Floor Inlays
These are progress pics. All the edges are glued to one another and this unit can be picked up as a whole even though it
does not have the plywood glued on the bottom yet. This shows the strength of the edge gluing and will help prevent
gapping down the line from seasonal changes. My little helper Vanessa put together the Inlay just like the picture, Ta DA!

The Inlay is in the vacuum press. One more piece of wood or a
plastic mesh (inset pic) goes on top before the press is turned
on. The hardwood is adhered to the plywood with type I water
proof glue using 1800 lbs of evenly placed pressure.

| Here is the Inlay completed. It is a large 36" x 72" floor medallion completed, with a coat of sanding sealer. Materials are: Maple, Illinois Black Walnut, Quarter Sawn Shingle Oak and Bubinga. This picture shows the medallion in its shipping box and within its template and router bit. The template fits so well it looks like the medallion is just in the box when in fact the template is fitting around the inlay. All ovals come with a template and router bit. Circle Inlays and double square Inlays are simple to install with no template so they are not included in the price, but can be purchased for an additional charge. |

Some of the steps involved in making an Oval Floor Inlay
The Oval shape looks fantastic in any rectangular space like an entryway or front foyer. Currently I have made only
two styles of Oval floor inlays. One is geometric the other a star version. Both work with any decor and the Star oval
can be made with Compass Rose letters. I would love to add another style oval floor Inlay to my repertoire, let me

Below are Oval Inlays shown in different length to width ratios. The inlay on the left is an 8 point star medallion in a 3
to 2 length to width ratio and is 24" x 36". The right inlay has a 2 to 1 length to width ratio and is 18" x 36".

The Inlay above left has woods of Massarunduba, Curly White Maple and White Oak. The inlay on the right contains 7 woods! Brazilian
Cherry, American Cherry, White Maple, Birds eye Maple, African Mahogany, Red oak and Leopard wood. You would think that many
woods clash but it look fantastic. Both Inlays are pictured with a sealer to show how the wood colors will looked after installation.
